[edit] Control ports

You also need to open certain ports if you plan to remote control mldonkey:

  • 4080 : http_port
  • 4000 : telnet_port
  • 4001 : gui_port

If you are running a recent version of mldonkey (>= 2.8.1 cvs) try the portinfo command for a full report of used ports.

[edit] Common questions

  • But I'm not the admin of my office/school LAN / I have no control of the router/firewall: Can i still use p2p/mlnet?
  • My school/office only give me an http proxy / I can only browse the web and all other ports are closed.

Do you think they could be doing it on purpose?
