Perhaps the programmers of MLDonkey have something to say about this bug report:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=200500
Quote:
src/networks/fasttrack/enc_type_2.c is machine translated to C from the
disassembly output of a Kazaa binary. This should be evident by just
looking at it. As I understand it, it can't be GPL'd. And if it could
be GPL'd, the source code would in my opinion not be "the preferred form
of the work for making modifications to it" which the GPL requires.

Quote:
enc_type_2.c isn't done like real reversed engineering is done. Real
reversed engineering is done by examining the behaviour of a program,
and writing your own code to do the same thing.

enc_type_*.c were taken from the giFT-FastTrack project
(http://developer.berlios.de/projects/gift-fasttrack) of which I am a
developer. It was never meant to be released to the public like this.

enc_type_1.c, which I in part did myself, is done very differently.
I still looked at the Kazaa binary, but it should be clean from Kazaa
code.

The code in enc_type_2.c is directly derived from code from a Kazaa
binary. It is not an original work. This of course means Debian mirrors
and such potentially could be sued for copyright infringement by whoever
owns the Kazaa copyright.

Bye.
