Hi
I tried to look for "AutoLeech" forums and the best result came to here. Therefore, I am hoping that I can indeed ask my questions here.
As Istarted doing a search in finding out what a csv file is it eventuallly brought me to the mIRC site and the AutoLeech site amongst others.
Well though brief descriptions were given it became obvious to me how ignorant I am on the subject and that these sites, whether they realize it or not, demand of the reader a presupposed knowledge--something I do not have.
My ?s: What exaclty are we collecting when we say, "Collecting scans"? It feels as if it means scans of anything, jpg. movies and so forth. Is this correct. Which then leads to mIRC which I believe is used to share thngs scanned (That is you collect csv and then use those to get files). Does this make it a sort of P2P thing, like eDonkey and BitTorrent? So what of AutoLeech? I have no clue since I don't even have enough knowledge to ask a question on it.
I am probably asking stupid or the wrong questions here but I hope it shows that I truly have no clue-ignoramous totale.
Thank you |

I have understood you are a newbie and you ahve posted a general question regarding p2p cause you don't know a place to ask with.
I am quite ignorant on this issue , I have never heard such "autoleech" , I have understood it is a IRC script to intercept and leech other's donwload...I have never used such things and I think IRC is the worst way to do filesharing.
Let me sugegst to keep in the way of "righteous edonkey network" it is not so quick but the quality of resources, the avaibility of rare files, and the easyness of usage make the best choice for a newbie.
I aso suggest do not try mldnkey as first software ...start with emule (I suppose you are win user).

HI
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I sort of knew what Leeching is, and you're right, it sucks, but I htought software took care of such people (The less you upload and share the slower the speeds) but it appears to me that this AutoLeech thing is just a catchy name and not anything to do with leeching. Or am I wrong?
BTW What is IRC?
And I am in the process of trying eMule and you're right about mldnkey being too difficult for newbies like myself. I can't figure out how that thing works--but it does seem like a better P2P software, is it not?
So where can I find out how to install it properly and get it running?
thnx again

| There are IRC (Internet-Relay-Chat) channels where you can find servers from where you can download files similar to FTP. MLdonkey is not capable of doing this. |

I remember someone posting an "autoleech" tool in those forum quite some time ago.
If I remember correctly, it could monitor a set of web pages, and automatically start downloads when new donkey links appeared in those.
Nothing to do with the "autoleech" term mentionned above. |
