There is a genereal guide about optimizing mldonkey for NAS boxes:
http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/Simple_configuration

You can find a lot of ipfilter and serverlist links in emule forums too.
About alice 7M I suggedst you to set upload around 30Kbytes/sec and download 300Kbyte/sec.This should permit great download speeds without saturating your line.
max connections 200 should suffice for normal needs.
I also suggest to set 7 upload slots and to set 4 upload slot to bittorent.

I suggest you to search and read the mldonkey's wiki which is great resource. All options are explained.

mldonkey runs in my belkin 7231-4p router. I copied lib files into /opt/lib/mlnet, and my start sh is as follows:

#!/bin/sh
export LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8
export LC_ALL=zh_CN.UTF-8
sleep 5
if [ -n "`pidof mlnet`" ]; then
echo "Kill old program..."
killall mlnet
fi
export HOME=/mmc/mlnet
rm /jffs/mlnet/.mldonkey/*.tmp 2>/dev/null
rm /jffs/mlnet/.mldonkey/mlnet.log 2>/dev/null
rm /jffs/mlnet/.mldonkey/*.pid 2>/dev/null
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/lib/mlnet:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/opt/bin/mlnet &
#

but i always get this message, and torrent can't work:

root@DD-WRT:~# 2009/03/13 11:14:46 [cO] Starting MLDonkey 2.9.7.CVS ...
2009/03/13 11:14:46 [cO] Language EN, locale ANSI_X3.4-1968, ulimit for open files 1024

2009/03/13 11:14:49 [DNS] Resolving [www.google.com] ...

The core therefore is unable to get eDonkey serverlists and loading
.torrent files via dllink from websites is also impossible.
If you are using MLDonkey in a chroot environment you should
consider reading this article to get DNS support back:
http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/Chroot

how to fix it? thanks!

dd-wrt doesn't support LOCALE env variable, so that you can't change the hard coded local.

I suggest compile mldonkey as UTF-8 by default.

I'll consider your suggestions in the next release, in fact I am considering adding the libmagic database too.

About the DNS problem could be related to incompatible system libraries too...PLease try using my bundled libraries.. there are few tricks about on first post.
Please read all the MAIN POST's in this thread and let's try all the tricks.
P.s: Next version's release (of 3.0.0 NAS's cores) is scheduled for the next weeekend cause I am seriusly lacking time.

Thats not possible, MLDonkey always uses the locale provided by the OS at runtime.

let's not discuss whether it's possible, just try it yourself, and tell me can you start this build in dd-wrt with UTF-8 enabled.

and this build (http://blog.orz101.net/node/382) is the only one i'm aware of that could handl UTF-8 correctly on dd-wrt.

I can't, because I do not have the necessary hardware.

So is there no chance to change something on the compilation side?..
Perhaps in the next, but not so near release, I'll add locales data too to the archive. I'm also planning changing' a bit the archive structure.
But this'll not come first than friday or sunday because I am working hard in real life cause peak of activity.

fabtar Thank you, and other developers. That would be so wonderful. UTF-8 encoding of the future and the present.

fabtar Can you either help than that and the site (http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net) was in the UTF-8 encoding instead of ISO-8859-1 -> which does not see (show) many of the world Languages ?

MLdonkey uses the system ressources to do locale conversion,
like any other application. It uses env variables and the systems
locale database. If they do not match, MLDonkey uses LANG=C.

That's absolutely necessary.
