I use mldonkey 2.9.5 on a Qnap TS-209 NAS (I also use Sancho from time to time), and it works OK. But I would like to change the mldonkey sender email address to another address.

  1. === My settings ===
    My mail settings are something like this:
    add_mail_brackets = False
    filename_in_subject = True
    mail = first.name@company.com
    smtp_port = 25
    smtp_server = smtp.myisp.net
    url_in_mail =

  2. === The problem ===
    1. When I get the mail from mldonkey to my Outlook 2003 the "from" email address (sender) is "mldonkey first.name@company.com"
    2. Outlook don't seem to like this kind of addresses (maybe it's the space between "mldonkey" and "first.name@company.com"), so the mail goes to the "Junkmail" folder.

  3. === What have I tried? ===
    1. First I tried to make Outlook to trust the sender in different ways, but with no luck
    2. Then I tried to find an obvious place to change the sender address with Sancho GUI, but failed.
    3. I have searched this forum after "mail" and read all threads with relevant subjects (well, what I thought was relevant)
    4. I have searced the FAQ & Wiki after some setting to change this, but failed to find it in http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/MLdonkeyOptionsExplained or http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/FAQs (and of course I have tried to Google for an answer)
    5. I tried to telnet to mldonkey and change the e-mail address of the only user there (admin)

I have limited knowledge on how to compile stuff to Qnap TS-209 NAS (mldonkey installs with Optware), so I hope there is some other solution Rolling Eyes

I also guess that being a new mldonkey user makes me a noob, so sorry if I have missed something obvious...

You are the first one reporting such a problem, so I guess its not
really widespread. MLDonkey has no option to configure the sender
address but such an option could easily be added.
But before I invest time for this I would like you to change
the option add_mail_brackets to true and test if it makes
a difference.

I have a similar problem, my gmail account don't like to receive emails from itself and treat them as spam.

how can make the sender and receiver different email accounts?
