I did some little research, and I found that mldonkey to device was added by installing "firmware extensions" on firmware extensions I found "mldonkey.tgz" file, maybe it is possible to update mldonkey in the firmware extensions file and then install it to device.

But anyway I dont know what kind of distribution does exist on device.

this is a link to firmware extensions for my device:

you have to download whole pack of software:
http://images.fantec.de/Driver_Software_FANTEC_DB-C35GigaLAN.zip
and firmware extensions is a "ntx_libra.tgz" located in Firmware Extensions/SATA_NAS/ folder (i do have a sate device) size is 12,045,495

I'm sorry, I release cores for a lot of NAS but I don't know details about your particular box.
Please look at the signatures about places to look about my updated cores and installation on other NAS.
Perhaps your box is similar to others.
First you have to find out the type of processor.
Mldonkey's command "sysinfo" should be useful.Post here the output.

other questions:
Are you able to access the console (linux's text interface)?
Do you know where mldonkey's executable is located?

Ask the creator of your current MLDonkey
package or the vendor of your device.

This is a commandline too, but I have asked about the linux's shell of your box.
Usually you have to use telnet or ssh to connect to port 23 or 25 respectively.

Code:
# grep "telnet\|ssh" /etc/services | grep tcp
ssh             22/tcp                          # SSH Remote Login Protocol
telnet          23/tcp

Anyway, I got a (probably stupid) idea.

I unpacked firmware extensions file (ntx_libra.tgz), i found there are these files:

11/09/2006 07:35 AM 634,352 ftpd
04/26/2005 02:25 PM 424,960 lp
04/26/2005 02:25 PM 421,000 lpc
04/26/2005 02:25 PM 424,960 lpd
04/26/2005 03:28 PM 418,792 lpq
04/26/2005 02:25 PM 433,848 lpr
04/26/2005 02:25 PM 416,844 lprm
03/27/2006 12:43 PM 244,204 mDNSResponder
01/10/2007 09:01 AM 4,949,257 mldonkey.tgz
03/29/2007 05:48 AM 10,305,818 mlnet
03/27/2006 02:30 PM 337,852 mt-daapd
03/25/2005 08:22 AM 2,865,235 ntx_chset.h
08/04/2009 10:05 PM <DIR> Share
08/04/2009 10:07 PM 0 txt.txt
04/25/2005 08:06 AM 1,344,716 upnp_soho
03/15/2005 10:09 AM 361,296 useradd
03/19/2007 08:50 AM 223,461 ushare
04/25/2005 08:06 AM 296,688 watch_prog
07/04/2006 07:25 AM 198,460 wget

Maybe when I can replace the MLNET and MLDONKEY.TGZ files with newest one - of course apropriate for my system, and reupload the ntx_libra.tgz - it will update automatically ...

I dont know, its just my idea...

@wlcina, the FWE (aka firmware extension aka ntx_libra.tgz) file which I posted earlier should work on your NAS. It basically contain the mlnet binaries which get extracted when you perform a update (NOT firmware update). And as mentioned, you may need to rename the filename to ntx_libra.tgz for it to work.

And BTW, it possible to enable telnetd on this NAS.
