Hi!
When I download a file, mldonkey does not preallocate all the space it will need for it. Is there any way to preallocate all the space from the start? I do not use sparse files (emulate_sparsefiles = false). |

5 days and no answer. I am starting to think that there is no possibility to preallocate the space needed for download. Too bad. |

This is a feature of your filesystem, not of MLDonkey. There are filesystems like FAT
or NTFS where MLDonkey allocates the complete space when the download starts.
These filesystems in mind b8_bavard wrote the emulate_sparsefiles option.
If you want to disable this feature on your system you have to tweak your filesystem,
if this is possible, and if yes, how it can be done is a different story which you should
investigate yourself for your system. _________________ Link overview and precompiled cores here: http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/DownloadLinks |

Thank you for your answer. I am running mldonkey on HP-UX 11.0 with filesystem VxFS. I thought that mldonkey uses some kind of generic system functions for allocating space for the file. Looks like VxFS has some tunning possibilities, but I will not touch them, since this is risky. Thanks again. |
