Ok, see branch cross in https://github.com/ygrek/mldonkey
What are the errors you get?

Compared yours vs mine, and saw no differences that seemed important.

So now that it's probably not my typo, I hopefully won't send you on a wild goose chase?

My error is that it tries to do:

/usr/local/bin/ocamlc.opt -linkall -o ocamlpp.byte \
-custom bigarray.cma unix.cma str.cma -ccopt " " -cclib "-lcharset -lz -liconv" -cclib -lbz2 -ccopt "-pthread" \
\
\
\
\
\
\
-I build tools/ocamlpp.cmo

which dies because libcharset isn't found in my host libs (just the target build chain).

By the way, someone seems to be confusing the terms host and target in the configure. Host is the system you are building on, target is the system you are building for. Its using host to mean target.

Okay, installed emdebian on a 32-bit debian squeeze system, and got further than that error above, but your patch applied to stock 3.0.7 doesn't work. It tries to link (ld) i386 binaries into an arm binary at the very end.

Branch "cross" in your repo DOES work, however, albeit a bit unhappily. My little arm gizmo is a mighty MLdonkey server!

Is there a set of torture tests to show that its full-fledged MLdonkey? I'll go looking tomorrow.

No, you are wrong, see http://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/manual/html_node/Specifying-Target-Triplets.html#Specifying-Target-Triplets
Quote:

--build=build-type
the type of system on which the package is being configured and compiled. It defaults to the result of running config.guess.
--host=host-type
the type of system on which the package runs. By default it is the same as the build machine. Specifying it enables the cross-compilation mode.
--target=target-type
the type of system for which any compiler tools in the package produce code (rarely needed). By default, it is the same as host.

These are all the consequences of configure script being not cross-friendly, disable extra features (--without-magic and any other libs that get wrongly detected), until configure is properly fixed.

If it can download files I guess it is a pretty strong evidence that everything is ok.
